Our initial tally conducted just after the last Gathering in Panama (which we did to take advantage of the euphoria immediately after that very successful meeting) produced a strong consensus to have the next gathering 3 years from the last, which would make it in 2007. The preferred venue was a cruise that would likely sail from Miami and have a stop (among other places) in St. Thomas; whether a stop in Curacao is possible as well will be looked into. The second, though not nearly as popular, option was a trip to Spain and Portugal, to visit sites of historical interest to Maduros and Delvalles, including Toledo, Coimbra, Madrid, etc. This option was a distant second choice, but it will be useful to check into both of them. ( The current very high Euro v. the low US$, should this persist, could make the Europe option less desirable). In the new year, we will start the process of obtaining details, and get back to you with these. It may well be that these details will provide other "options and "sub-options" that we will need to get your thoughts on.

One matter we did not discuss when we did our initial venue/year tally, was during what part of the year (2007) the cruise should take place (assuming it will be a cruise); Our last gathering in Panama was in March, as we wanted to avoid the upcoming presidential elections there, as well as take advantage of the slightly breezier time of year. However, it may be that for a cruise cousins may prefer the Summer months (July/August), when their children are out of school.
